Bookmooch and a random song

I have just joined Bookmooch. Seems like a great concept and a good way to trade books.
But I shipped my first book today, and it seems like it could get pretty expensive for the shipping.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to save money on shipping?
Do you ship first class, or is there a less expensive book rate?

*******

Now for the random part:
Today I picked my daughter up from preschool, and said "Take my hand" as we crossed the street.
Suddenly that old song from the album Free to Be You and Me by Marlo Thomas and Friends came into my head.
The refrain goes "Take my hand, come with me, where the children are free, come with me, take my hand, and we'll run...To the land where the river runs free, to the land with the shiny sea, to the land with the free country, to the land where you and me are free to be you and me."
Now I can't get it out of my head.
Does anyone else remember this record?
I wonder if you can get it anywhere?!

I am not sure about the shipping question, shipping is getting worse and worse but it is still better than buying a new book!!
About the song, I bet you can get it on itunes, I know my dad uses some sort of Yahoo music that you can download onto your computer and then burn it on to a CD.

PS. About the novel, thanks for cheering me on...the more I write the more stupid I feel for wasting my time!! :) I am currently at 6042 words. Thanks so much for the encouragement, I know I need it!

I don't know anything about bookmooch specifically, but there is such a thing as a book rate through the US postal service.

I LOVED "Free to Be You and Me" when I was young! I used to listen to the tape (and certain songs on it) over and over again. I don't know where you can buy it but here's a cute video on youtube of that song.

Bethany - I am doing NaNoWriMo too. I'm not very far yet. I have the plot pretty much outlined in one page, and I have a better idea of what the main characters are like.
I'll keep you posted! And I may have to check out the website if you say it's not too addictive.

That's an awesome link Sarah! Thanks so much. :) Hearing the song again, it reminds me of the music from Hair and Godspell. I bet they were all written and produced around the same time.
And thanks for the info about book rate shipping at the post office. I think the main place I got burned was in buying the packaging at the post office - I think I need to get some bulk bubble wrap envelopes someplace like Target.

Haha, I love Godspell too! - I was in it in 9th grade :) I haven't seen Hair, though.

I was in Godspell in 11th grade, and I saw Hair in college. Hair is one of those you find mainly in college towns because of the nude scene. In some ways, it is quite the opposite of Godspell, and then in other ways I thought they were very similar - idea of a group of youngish kids coalescing around a central powerful God-figure. I was probably just struck by the similar time period of the music.

Try shipping books through media mail or ask the person if they can mooch more than 1 book =)

Thanks for visiting my blog, Yan! I looked to see if you had a blog I could visit, but I didn't see one in your profile.

I had it set to invisible XD I wanted to start a blog this fall but things have been busy so I decided to postpone it until I have some free time =)

You should blog, blog, blog! I was really surprised at how little time it takes to compose a post. Of course it depends on your subject matter, how wordy you are, and all that. But I say, the more the merrier.
Welcome to my blog!
